About
Experience that
compounds.
W4 Limited is a New Zealand company established in 1961. David Wishart took over as Managing Director in 2011 — second-generation leadership, with a focus on globalisation, technology and practical business consulting.
A career spanning textile manufacturing and exporting in New Zealand and South America, international trade development at NZTE, three years as New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner in Hong Kong and Macau, and eleven years building and leading a global software platform.
At NZTE, David worked directly with more than 500 New Zealand companies — helping them build capability, secure funding, and grow in international markets. In North Asia, that meant deep relationships in China, Hong Kong and Macau at a time when those markets were moving fast and the margins for error were thin.
Earlier in his career, David founded Wishart Marketing Ltd — a New Zealand manufacturing, sourcing, importing and exporting business — and went on to lead market development for Pacific Group SA in Buenos Aires. That early grounding in the real mechanics of cross-border trade shapes how W4 thinks about globalisation today. We’ve shipped goods across continents, negotiated contracts in three languages, and built businesses in markets where relationships still matter more than pitch decks.
W4’s advisory is direct and practical. The questions we ask cut to what matters. The advice comes from thirty years of commercial work — across manufacturing, trade, technology and services — on four continents.
